Rover Emergency Key Access (EKA) Code

Turning off the vehicle Immobiliser

The Rover Series vehicle Immobiliser can be permanently disabled using the Emergency Key Access Code. This is very useful if the remote key fob is damaged, lost or not functional.
The code is supplied with the car on a small card, it will be a four digit number e.g. '4886'. The number is entered using the drivers door lock in a particular manner.

This procedure has to be followed exactly as detailed.

Note: After three failed attempts the security system will not accept further attempts for 10-15minutes.

Using the key, turn the drivers door lock (clockwise) to the LOCK position, the central locking system will lock the doors. Hold the key in this position for at least 5 seconds, then return the key to the center position.
Now enter the EKA code in the following manner.

(1) Enter the first digit by turning the key fully, as far as it can go, counter clockwise (the central locking will unlock at the first turn), turn the Key back to the central position. Repeat this process the number of times indicated by the first digit of the EKA Code. (Note the central locking will only unlock on the first turn)

(2) Enter the second digit of the code by turning the key fully, clockwise to the lock position (the central locking will now lock) turn the key back to the central position. Repeat this process the number of times indicated by the second digit of the EKA Code. (Note the central locking will only lock on the first turn)

(3) Enter the third digit by turning the key fully, counter clockwise (the central locking will unlock at the first turn), turn the Key back to the central position. Repeat this process the number of times indicated by the third digit of the EKA Code. (Note the central locking will only unlock on the first turn)

(4) Enter the forth digit of the code by turning the key fully, clockwise to the lock position (the central locking will now lock) turn the key back to the central position. Repeat this process the number of times indicated by the forth digit of the EKA Code. (Note the central locking will only lock on the first turn)

If you make an error you will need to open and then close the drivers door then start again from the beginning.

Once the EKA code has been entered correctly, wait 5 seconds then turn the key once to the unlock position then return it to the central position.
Remove the Key.
If the code has been entered successfully, the anti-theft indicator light on the door indicator will stop flashing, and the engine can be started.
If the code has been entered incorrectly, a warning bleep will sound when the key is turned to the UNLOCK position. If this occurs open and close the drivers door, and start the process again.
